Lead Teacher Position
Garfield Montessori School is a brand-new Mandarin and English Bilingual Montessori School in Escondido. We are seeking multiple fully qualified toddler/preschool teachers to join our education team. This position is FULL-TIME, Monday through Friday, with an 8-hour shift. The preferred candidates will have relevant experience in early childhood education, experience in Montessori teaching and learning methods, and be warm, enthusiastic, loving, caring, responsible, and committed to respecting and meeting the needs of each child as a unique individual.
This staff position:
- Is responsible for the daily supervision and class functions of a group of children.
- Plans, prepares, and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that help students progress using the Montessori method
- Must use positive discipline
- Creates a safe, stimulating, nurturing, and organized environment that fosters independence and self-directed learning
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in both indoor and outdoor environments
- Observes all rules and regulations at Garfield Montessori School and local/national licensing agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
- Is actively involved in classroom preparation, classroom cleaning, snack/lunch supervision, playground duty, nap-time monitoring, and diaper changes/potty training (for toddler program), etc.
- Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis and provides regular reports to parents
- Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions
- Foster positive relationships with teachers, children, parents and families, providing updates to parents and conducting parent-teacher conferences as needed
- Collaborates with associate/assistant teachers, interns, and staff to ensure a well-run classroom
- Supervise the children on-site and being supervised by the director and owners
In order to be considered, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
• Montessori Credential (AMI or AMS) required.
• Full knowledge of the Montessori Primary Program (ages 3-6) for primary lead teacher and Montessori Toddler Program (ages 1.5-3) for toddler lead teacher.
• A minimum of 12 Child Development units.
• >5 years of working experience.
• CPR Certification.
• Background check and fingerprint clearance required.
• Early Childhood Education degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’) is preferred but not required.
• Fluency in English or Chinese is required for the lead teacher.
